Boyce's Death Ruled as Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy

Jackson and Charles Esten Pay Tribute To Late Star

Cameron Boyce, who starred in the Disney Channel shows "Jessie" and "Descendants," has died at the age of 20. Boyce's death was ruled as a sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Boyce's family said in a statement that he died in his sleep on July 6, 2019. "Cameron's tragic passing was due to a seizure which resulted in his untimely death," the family said. "He was a bright light in all of our lives, and he will be deeply missed."

Boyce began his acting career at the age of 9, appearing in the film "Mirrors." He went on to star in the Disney Channel series "Jessie" from 2011 to 2015. He also appeared in the "Descendants" films, playing the role of Carlos.

Boyce's death has shocked and saddened his fans and co-stars. Skai Jackson, who played Boyce's sister on "Jessie," paid tribute to him on social media, saying, "I will never forget the laughs we shared, the memories we made, and the bond we created. I love you more than words can say, and I will miss you every day."

Charles Esten, who played Boyce's father on "Jessie," also paid tribute to the late star, saying, "Cameron was a light in the world. He was a talented actor, a kind soul, and a true friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him."

Boyce's death is a reminder of the dangers of epilepsy. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, SUDEP is the leading cause of death in people with epilepsy. It is a sudden, unexpected death that occurs in people with epilepsy who have no other known cause of death.

The Epilepsy Foundation recommends that people with epilepsy take steps to reduce their risk of SUDEP, such as taking their medication as prescribed, getting regular check-ups, and avoiding triggers that can lead to seizures.
